I'm not sure why I waited so long to write a review on these because I really very much enjoyed them and look forward to finishing the series!
The Witches of Thistle Grove series by Lana Harper consists of five books all set in the same world that can be read in order or not, which I really like. I actually started with book three which wound up being totally fine, although it is recommended to start with book one to get the proper world building.
The series follow witches and wizards of all the prominent families in the small magical town of Thistle Grove. One thing I've enjoyed about this series so far is that each story is unique but you still see the other characters as background characters that were the main characters in their own books!

Back in a Spell follows down-to-earth, sensible, and broken-hearted Nineve "Nina" Blackmoore. After being tragically dumped at the altar by her fiance, she eventually give sin to trying a dating app. That's how she meets the non-binary, offbeat spontaneous soul of Morty Gutierrez. Their date goes less than perfectly, the two being very opposite plus, when Morty finds out Nineve is a Blackmoore, his opinion of her goes down the tubes. The families have been far from friends as Nina's family have been sneakily trying to bully Morty's family into selling their bar.
Even after venting to her best friend and talking about how absolutely awful her date was, Nineve and Morty wind up in each other's paths again when he starts to develop magical powers -- something that only usually happens to committed partners once they join a founding family like Nina's -- at the same time her powers begin to surge beyond her control. The two work together to manage Morty's magical awakening, gain control of Nina's powers and face the fact that maybe their fated for each other after all.
This book was so much fun and so unique in terms of the romance. I've not really read anything that put two totally opposite people together. It's a combination of Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity, and Paranormal Romance that scratches the romantasy itch. It made me smile but also had some really sincere issues that were interesting to read. The personalities of both Nina and Morty were interesting and endearing as were the side characters like Nina's best friend and brother.
Needless to say, when I was sent the arc for the next book I picked it up right away! I love Lana Harper's writing and all of the Witches of Thistle Grove books are an auto-buy on my list! I gave this one an easy 4/5 stars!

A big thank you to the author and publisher of this book for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book! I am very appreciative and grateful for being introduced to this wonderful series!
